Testimonials

Tina Tsai studied with me at the Peabody Conservatory for her masters degree. I enjoyed working with Tina very much for the two years she was at Peabody because she has such a pleasent personality, was very enthusiastic and very talented. Extremely cooperative while working with others she showed a real interest in learning not only how to play the clarinet at a more advanced stage but how to teach it as well. I'm very proud of the work she is now doing as a clarinet performer and teacher.

" I recently had the opportunity to hear Ms Tina Tsai, perform several pieces by Camille Saint Saens, Clarinet Sonata in E Flat Major and a piece, entitled "Skyline" composed for our church. These were offered at a recent performance here at Skyline Community Church in Oakland CA, as part of a duet with our music director, Ramin Haghjoo. Both created a fine balance of clarity and color, elegance and lyricism, with the quality of the clarinet clear, full and lovely.  Tina is as gracious and lovely as her music. "

I'm fortunate to get to know Tina in person, as Tina not only plays beautiful music with her clarinet, she plays more beautiful music with her heart! Tina thinks of not the difficult challenges microtia brings her, but of other people who encounter the same obstacles. At such a young age, she is already hosting charitable concerts with her friends. Together, with a big heart, they raise money as well as awareness in giving people, who are born with similar conditions, tools and hopes to overcome challenges. When you listen to Tina's music, listen not just with your ear - most importantly, listen with your heart!

Tina Tsai is a member of the clarinet section of The Winchester Orchestra, of which I am music director.  She is a wonderful musician with a lovely tone and excellent technique; on a personal level, she is a kind and friendly person, and completely reliable and professional.  She recently performed the Weber clarinet concerto with our orchestra, and played beautifully, with a full command of her technique in the difficult passages, and a lovely lyric tone in the slow sections.

Ms. Tsai is, in short, an excellent musician, both as soloist and orchestral player, and a considerate person who gets along well with her colleagues.  I would recommend her very highly as a performer.

I want to express my gratitude to Tina for her effort to organize support for hearing research. Tina contacted us a while ago with the desire to promote awareness and to raise support for ongoing hearing research efforts at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). Tina offered to help us with fund raising by organizing a benefit concert toward research into the treatment and prevention of hearing disorders. She and a few of her friends presented a delightful concert of

chamber music and organized a silent auction.

The proceeds of the well-attended event raised several thousand dollars for the cause. We are tremendously thankful for her effort to raise awareness for the need to improve the conditions of the hearing impaired and we commend her passion and dedication to bring beautiful music to all of us.

“Tina and I both studied clarinet with Professor Walker at UC Irvine many years ago, where I was a graduate student and she was starting her college career. Tina was a hard-working and dedicated student who was easy to get along with. I was very happy to be able to provide a limited amount of support for the undergraduate music majors including Tina. I ran into her again number of years later at the Vancouver ClarinetFest and was glad to know about her success in her graduate studies. Her ability to work well with people from many different backgrounds would make her an asset to any organization.”
